What is it about a boy and his truck?
This past Friday after our return from Washington D.C. (which was AWESOME!!!!) we decided to take the day easy and enjoy a little picnic on the farm. The water was packed, the sanwiches were packed, the books packed and the blankets were packed. Our cousin Stacey came along with us. Now the farm we were going to belonged to one of our old sweet deacons of our church who was thrilled to hear we were coming. We got there slightly hungry but just couldn't resist a good ole' conversation with him and his wife before we headed out to the top of sunset hill. Sitting in their air conditioned living room, talking about his adventures in WWII and how he saved a man's life, got a silver star, a purple heart, and fought the Japanese, all in Australia was just what we needed to get over our hunger. After the World War II stories had ended (which I could have gladly listened to all day) we started our adventure in the back of the truck, through the briarpatch, to the top of Sun set hill. Half way there his truck stopped; so he got out and opened the hood and sat there for a few minutes rubbing his chin contemplating what to do. Finally Morgan called Sister Hazel back at the house and told her of our misfortune. It wasn't long before the jumper cabels were attached to the battery of her impala jumping off the old worn-out truck. mean while, sitting in the back of the truck, we girls , deciding we had been famished long enough broke out the sanwiches and lemonade. Who cares if our picnic wasn't on a shady hill with blankets and books we were satisfied with a rusty bed of a truck. (As long as we got to eat.) :-) After he had had his fill of lemonade, he started the truck back up and we were off! ah finally to the top! The view was beautiful! The hay had not yet been cut so with hay and briars ten inches ablove our ankles, the beauty of the scenery was taken away by ooh,,ahh oww ick! ouch! YOWY!!!! ih, ooh ow, man! it was nice though because after tromping through briars and dead grass, to lay down on a blanket with soft hay underneath was delightful. we had just all settled into our books...(oh and I must mention, Momma and brother Charles had just left down the hill to go back to the house for water)...

A boy and his truck, I just don't think a girl will ever understand. Almost like a boy and his dog, no one ever really gets it.
It really is cruel to leave every one hanging so long.
Oh and sheildmaiden, she forgot. She remembered the morning we got home. I told her to get out a postcard of the washington monument or something and call and say, guess what I am standing in front of the washington monument. but no, she didn't take my advice.
